Instructions for the Romanticism and Realism Art Project

Here are the instructions for the assignment that the class started on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. There will be some time in class for students to finish their projects. Students who were absent on Friday will be able to turn their projects in on Wednesday, which also the day of the test on this unit.

  • You will create a drawing or poem in either the style of a Romantic or Realist artist.  You may work alone or with a partner. This project is worth 15 points.
  • If you choose to create a piece of art from the Realist school, you must criticize some element or aspect of the Industrial Revolution. If you write a poem, it should be one page long (about 16 lines).  If you work with a partner, then you must turn in TWO works (two drawings, two poems, or one drawing and one poem).
  • You also will include a written explanation of how your artwork (drawing or poem) that explain how your artwork reflects the ideas of either of Romanticism or Realism. This should also describe your artwork, including explaining any symbolism that you have in your artwork. This must be at least ten sentences long for each piece of art.

Change to test date

Because it looks like that I will out again on Friday taking care of my sick son, I have decided to move next week's test on the Enlightenment and the American Revolution back one class day. Instead of being on Wednesday, Sept. 5, it will be on Friday, Sept. 7. This will give us time on Wednesday to go over a few more things before the test.
